Are references included in the word count?

Yes, if you want references, tables, or appendices checked, include them in the total word count when requesting a quote. Including these is highly recommended for a thorough and consistent edit.

Do I need an editor who is an expert in my field?

Editors focus on improving language, clarity, and structure—not the content itself. While subject expertise isn’t essential, familiarity with your discipline can enhance the quality of the edit, especially for technical terminology or field-specific conventions.

Does AI make academic editing obsolete?

AI can support but not replace academic editing. While it’s helpful for catching syntax errors, AI lacks the disciplinary expertise and critical judgment that human editors bring—especially when refining complex arguments in novel research like PhD dissertations.

Do universities provide funding for proofreading?

Simply email your document to us. All files are treated with strict confidentiality and permanently deleted within six months of completing your edits.

Can I get a quote to submit for funding applications?

Absolutely! We can provide a detailed quote to include in your funding application. Please get in touch early and allow enough time before your deadline to ensure everything is prepared smoothly and on schedule.

Can I get both structural editing and proofreading?

Structural editing includes comprehensive proofreading, so getting both isn’t necessary. We recommend combining either of these with formatting for the best results, but you can also choose any service individually based on your needs.
